Rahima Kenner is an artist specialising in printmaking, etching and painting. She is based in Oxford, UK. Rahima studied Fine Art at the University of Reading and Central St. Martins School of Art, London. Much of her work is inspired by her experience of travels in Europe and Asia Minor.

She regularly teaches courses in Etching/Printmaking in Oxford, UK. Rahima co-ordinates for Oxford’s Artweeks Visual Arts Festival and has been a member of Oxford Printmakers Co-operative since its early days. An experienced tutor, she has her own portable press, participates in artist residencies and offers demonstrations. She runs private courses and workshops for adults and children in Oxford. Her work is exhibited widely and is in private collections worldwide.



‘I create colourful works on paper, drawings and prints, for which I use the intaglio press to print from copper or zinc. I sometime combines this with collagraph plates. For a more painterly, free approach, I create layers of painting, with intense etching inks onto acrylic plates, passed through the press to make unique monotypes.

My inspiration is drawn from the 13th Century love poems of Ibn ‘Arabi, landscapes of longing and the wild birds and animals of wide open spaces. Images are encountered, observed or imagined. My drawings, on the other hand, are usually based on the human figure, in mixed media of ink and charcoal and conté crayon.’
